Steam wallet on the DRIVE
Termed as the largest distribution platform for PC gaming, its latest renovation shows that you can now comfortably move a game to another folder after you have downloaded it without re-downloading the whole steam library folder.
Before now, you had one or two choices: to uninstall the game and reinstall it on a new drive or physically move the game’s folder by dragging and putting it into another Steam Library folder.
In case you have acquired a new drive, and you want to transfer your games to the drive, below are two possible ways to help you do that without having to reinstall the games again.
Generate a Symbolic link with Steam Mover.
Steam Mover is an application that copies files from one drive to another through a symbolic link called the Junction Point. The link is created at the old location so that your computer’s memory takes everything in the same place but on the other hand the space that contains the data is residing on another hard drive.
How to move steam wallet games?
First, you should run the EXE files after downloading the Steam Mover app and then start it up. Identify where the game you want to move is located at the top left of the window then browse where you want to run your game to on the right.
Using your mouse, click on the blue arrow that will appear to select your game from the list. A window with a black command will be produced by the Steam Mover app to show how it is running and when it will finish the process. Your game will be found in the new folder with a shortcut in it.
“Move your Game and put your Game Manager in the New Location.”
This applies to people who don’t want to install or download extra software. With the help of steam, create a folder in the new location where you want to put your game and then pursue through the settings then downloads all the way to steam Library Folders where you will click to Add Library folder.
Go to your new Steam Folder and create another folder inside it called Steam apps. Inside the Steam, apps create a folder by the name Common. In the Steam Folder, you get the folder you want to put your game. Copy the game’s folder, then right-click on the game and select “Delete Local Content” and the game will be uninstalled from its initial location.
The game will be re-installed in the Steam folder on your new hard drive, after clicking the install button in the “Choose location” drop down. Steam will then identify the existing files and make small changes to enable you to play the game as usual.
